Also known as Jag Niwas, this stunning palace, afloat on Lake Pichola, was
developed by Rana Jagat Singh II in the 1730s as a pleasure palace. In
1961, Maharana Bhagwat Singh decided to convert Jag Niwas into a hotel and
this conversion placed Udaipur forever on the international map. Since
1971, it has been managed by the Taj Group of Hotels.
Facilities
There are 84 centrally air-conditioned rooms including 17 suites. All
rooms overlook either the Lily Pond or the terrace. The rooms are
elegantly appointed and offer guest amenities like international direct
dial facility, channel music and color television with satellite programs.
The rooms are categorised under lake facing rooms, small suites, deluxe
suites and historical suites. All the rooms include phones with
international direct dial facility, channel music, colour television with
satellite programmes and 24 hours room service.
Some other services provided by the hotel are secretariat service,
swimming pool, beauty parlour and massage center, travel desk, car rental,
shopping arcade, currency exchange, electronic safes in all the rooms,
doctor on call and babysitting. Its two restaurants Jharoka and Neel kamal
provide mouth-watering delicacies and its Amrit Sagar is the poshest
